When people ask me, in years to come, what one of my  most memorable experiences has been, I think I would  have to cite the concerts I did in Singapore in January  at the beginning of 2012. They took place in an  exhibition from a collection from the Musée d'Orsay of  French Impressionist and Pre-Impressionist paintings,  including works by Van Gogh, Monet, Pissarro, and  Cézanne, to name but a few. The works I performed  were by Debussy, featuring the two books of Préludes, a  work Debussy himself admitted was very much  influenced by the paintings and pictures around him. To  actually be in the room with some of these paintings, or  at least paintings by some of the very painters Debussy  knew, and to be able to perform this music for an  enthusiastic public was quite exhilarating. The fusion of  music and painting produced a few extraordinary  moments. Debussy will also feature largely in a recital I  am doing in Leeds at the beginning of February, and I  will certainly share with the audience my wonderful  experience in Singapore.  Much of January there was also spent coaching some  very talented piano students at the Yong Siew Toh  Conservatory of Music, where I will return later in March  this year. The Conservatory is wonderfully equipped and  all the students are indeed very fortunate to be part of  this institution.  February will see concerts in Amsterdam and Rotterdam  before returning back to the steamy climate of  Singapore. The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam always  brings back fond memories, and I look forward to  performing there again. Not surprisingly, the  programme will include some Debussy!  January 2012 Chopin Mazurka Op 59 No 2. From a Live Performance at the La Jolla Music Society USA December 2010
